Rebuilding Our Gates
A Discipleship Study on Renewing the Mind and Transforming the Soul
In 445 B.C., Babylon invaded Jerusalem and took the people captive. This enemy empire burned the city's walls and destroyed its gates. For 70 years, the Hebrew people were taken captive in Babylon until Cyrus released the people to return to their homeland and rebuild. Leading the rebuilding process was Nehemiah. Hidden in his story is a pattern for the process we undergo to renew our minds as disciples of Jesus Christ after we are saved. Our souls can be compared to Jerusalem.
Do you feel as if you are not living the abundant life Jesus promises in His Word (John 10:10)? Even as a believer, do life's circumstances, your past, or unhealed pain guide your life and decisions? Despite your best efforts, do you struggle to overcome fear, anxiety, anger, bitterness, or addictions? If so, Rebuilding Our Gates: A Discipleship Study on Renewing the Mind and Transforming the Soul can help you identify the root causes and equip you to step into your identity in Christ.
In this study, you will examine the following:
- What is destiny and purpose?
- What is the difference between living from a love-based identity and a fear-based identity?
- What is the difference between religion and intimacy?
- What is salvation?

- How does what we watch, read, and listen to affect our beliefs?
- What is joy capacity, and how does it relate to the trauma and pain in our past?
- What are attachment patterns, and how do they impact how we form relationships?
- Do we live a disciplined life?
